Research on the microbial mechanism of enhancement of biomethane production from bio-waste by typical carbon materials

Within the framework of the project funded by the National Science Center entitled "Research on the microbial mechanism of enhancement of biomethane production from bio-waste by typical carbon materials" (contract number: UMO-2021/43/B/ST8/01924), the recruitment for the position of Funded Full-Time Ph.D. The studentship is announced.

Main tasks

  • Perform project-related tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator, including, but not limited to, glucose solution and food waste production and characterization of their properties, inoculum production, biomethane production studies, digestate characterization, SEM-EDX analysis of carbon materials, confocal laser microscopy, zeta potential determination, data validation, and statistical analysis, data collection, data analysis.
  • Participation in ongoing research carried out in the Department of Applied Bioeconomy,
  • Participation in writing publications for high-impact journals with IF on the list of the Ministry of Education and Science,
  • Active substantive participation in the preparation and submission of applications for research funding in open domestic and foreign competitions.

Requirements

  • Completed master's degree in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining, and energy, or chemical sciences, or biological sciences, or related sciences. Candidates who will have completed their master's degree by July 2023 are also admitted.
  • Scientific or professional experience supported by articles, certificates, or completed projects.
  • Good command of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Have the status of a doctoral student (participant in the UPWr Doctoral School) as of the date of commencement of work in the project, i.e., October 1, 2022. The recruitment procedure for the Doctoral School must be completed by the end of September 2022.
  • Time availability - full-time work.
  • Motivation for scientific work.

Total stipend (gross) for the entire benefit period: PLN 180,000
